Hi Susan, Hope you can get one that needs to be rehomed. We got Spike from an animal Shelter, he had been dumped when he was a couple of months old, we found him on the internet. That is where we found Marleen, she was not at an Animal Rescue Shelter, she needed to be rehomed because the new baby had asthma and was allergic to the dog. Rehoming these two has been very satisfying, seeing them both come out of their shells and blossom into beautiful dogs is wonderful.
Hi Chicamom85, That was Spike looking real mean, think M arleen might have been teasing him with the ball. She is an expert tease, on alot of the photos Marleen has the ball and Spike has to wait! He does not do waiitn so well.
Thanks to both of you for coming by. Have a good day. Love, Herrad
I live in a flat and most flats will not allow dogs at all unless they are for the blind.
That is why I have a cat! But if I ever had a house, I would go to the shelter and get a dog....I don't know if I would want a real puppy, and deal with paper trainin....
Hi Susan, If you ever are in a place you can have a dog I would very much recomend it as it is so very satisfying to see the dog blosom and it is wonderful getting to know the animal. It is a very rewarding thing to do. Have a good day. Love, Herrad
Herrad you are so right about animal shelter dogs. we have always either had shelter dogs or people that had rescued more than they could handle. Our Beagle, it is required by the humane society that we have them checked by our vet immediately after adopting and our vet came out and said "he will bite, I don't think you should take him"and I said no he was on the street and is probably frightened. I found out that he was offered food and they tried taking it away. He has never got over that and we have no reason to take his food away. Alot of dogs are very protective of their food.
Hi Lucy, Good for you that you gave him a chance and he took it and is your good dog. That was the same with Spike he was left in a ditch age 2 months and he will always feel like an abandoned puppy the poor fellow. Our job is to love them lots which we do. Love, Herrad
Indeed free playfulness - I joined in the virtual run and frolic - Thank you for stopping by APOGEE Poet today. I am pleased that you found time to step by the waters.
I do hope my blog will still be there and I can find it after the change from cable to dish. I had to come and see Spike and Marlene before we start with a new adventure tomorrow. I just hope everything works out ok.
